ProsePlanner Tips | Accessibility on Your SmartPhone

If you’re addicted to audiobooks and podcasts like I am, then I bet you’ve often wondered how you could switch from reading an ebook to listening to one instead. Well, I have a solution for you.

Like most people, I spend a lot of time looking at a computer screen and my phone all day long, which creates eye fatigue. I found a quick solution to hearing an ebook and reducing eye fatigue.

What? I can hear an ebook? Yes, with your Smartphone’s built-in accessibility features, you should be able to hear the contents of a screen whether it be a website, an ebook, or a document. So, this means that you can open up an ebook and then have the accessibility functions of your phone read the entire ebook to you as you work or relax. Pretty cool, right?

Below is a quick guide for using the accessibility function on your phone:

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select Accessibility.
  3. Select Spoken Content.
  4. Select Speak Screen.

Next, open an ebook and activate the accessibility feature with one specific gesture. Using your index and middle finger of one hand, place them at the top of your phone (near the camera) and then quickly swipe from the top of the phone to the bottom. If this gesture was performed correctly, then you should see a little accessibility box pop up with controls. Happy listening!
